"Being Fat Is A Choice!" Greg Doucette Slams Fitness Influencers, Body Positivity, & Scams
Coach Greg Doucette joins Graham Stephan and Jack Selby on The Iced Coffee Hour. He argues obesity is now largely a choice, gives his training and supplement advice, and ranks fitness influencers on steroid use and honesty.
The gist
-
Doucette says GLP-1 drugs leave no excuse for obesity, but argues most people start on doses that are too high and should use the lowest dose that works.
-
He calls InBody and DEXA scans unreliable, prefers skinfold calipers, and recommends at least 150 minutes of zone 2 cardio weekly, ideally double.
-
His core supplements are creatine, vitamin D, omega-3s and GO2 Max, but he says get blood work first, as Graham did with Function Health.
-
To beat evening hunger he relied on huge protein ice creams and big salads, and suggests PB2 instead of peanut butter in protein shakes.
-
He says full-body training twice a week gives 80% of results, and recommends tracking the weekly median of daily weigh-ins instead of counting calories.
"The skinfold caliper test, I like it more than that. The hydrostatic weighing test I like more than the others as well, but that's a lot of work. The skinfold caliper test is great if I'm the one doing it, but the problem is it's only as accurate as the person measuring it."

See all on the Vitamin D page"I think GO2 Max, of the pills that I take, would be one of the best ones. The studies have shown it's like dramatic improvements in cardiovascular endurance... which was dose dependent... So I would recommend GO2 Max highly."

See all on the Omega-3 fatty acids page"I really believe in the Turk Builder Max. I think that that's great for improving people's endurance in the gym, strength, drive, determination, wanting to push harder, build more muscle, leaner, drier appearance."
▶ Play at 25:06"The protein ice cream is probably the thing that curbed my stomach the best in all my years of doing anything. That combined with massive jumbo salads... That's what allowed me to stay lean for 20 years."
▶ Play at 35:27"Why not put in PB2?... What they do is they take the peanut butter and they take all the fat out... you're going to get even more protein and less calories. That would be way better."
▶ Play at 42:10"So one thing that I'll do is I get Optimum Nutrition protein powder and I'll get two scoops of that... and then I'll do maybe one tablespoon or a tablespoon and a half of peanut butter."
▶ Play at 41:46"80% of the muscle growth is going to occur from just training your whole body twice a week in two days. So I lift weights twice a week. That's it. I have a lot of muscle."
▶ Play at 49:30"I don't even think you should track calories. You should track your weight. You take your weight five to seven days a week... you circle the middle number and that's your weight for the week, rather than... the once a week weighing. It's ridiculous because it could be on a hea..."
▶ Play at 47:26"For overall development, I would do a shoulder press with a machine... Side laterals is great, but this is going to build more overall muscle. So if I had to pick one, I would do this one over the other... In the last year, there's not many exercises I've done other than this ..."
