Overview

Followed is a product recommendation site that surfaces what podcast hosts and YouTubers are using and recommending. You can browse the entire site without an account. This page explains what we collect when you do, and what changes if you create an account.

Information we collect

If you browse without an account. We collect usage data: the pages you visit, the searches you run, the links you click, the site that referred you, and general technical details such as browser type, device type, and approximate geographic location derived from your IP address. This data is tied to a randomly generated identifier stored in your browser, not to your name or email.

If you create an account. Creating an account requires an email address, which we use to send you a sign-in link and, if you follow creators, a daily digest of their new recommendations. We also store the creators and products you follow, and when you last signed in. You can unsubscribe from digest emails at any time using the link in any email.

We do not collect payment information, and we never ask for a password.

Analytics and session recording

We use PostHog for product analytics. PostHog records pageviews and specific actions — searching, following a creator, requesting a sign-in link, and clicking through to a product — so we can understand which parts of the site are actually useful.

PostHog also records anonymised session replays: a reconstruction of how a page was navigated, showing clicks, scrolling, and page changes. All text you type into any input field is masked before it leaves your browser — including the email address on the sign-in form. We never see the contents of what you type in a replay.

If you have an account, your analytics activity is linked to an internal identifier for your account so we can tell repeat visits apart from new ones. We do not send your email address or name to PostHog. The identifier is a random value that is meaningless outside our own systems.

You can opt out of analytics and session recording for a browser by visiting our opt-out page. The setting is stored in that browser and applies until you clear its data.

We also use Google Analytics for aggregate traffic reporting. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies and browser local storage for three things: keeping you signed in if you have an account, distinguishing unique visitors and sessions for analytics, and remembering your analytics opt-out choice. We do not use cookies for advertising or for tracking you across other websites.

Third-party services

The services that receive data from your visit are PostHog (product analytics and session replay), Google Analytics (aggregate traffic reporting), and — if you have an account — Resend, which delivers our sign-in and digest emails. Our site is hosted on Render. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone else.

Affiliate links

Some outbound product links are affiliate links. When you click one we record that the click happened, which product it was for, and which page it came from, so we can measure what people find useful. We may earn a commission if you make a purchase, at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships never influence which products appear or how they are ranked.

Your choices

You can opt out of analytics at our opt-out page, unsubscribe from digest emails using the link in any email, and ask us to delete your account and its data by emailing hello@usefollowed.com.

Content creators

Followed displays publicly available information about content creators, including their names and product recommendations made in public podcast episodes and YouTube videos. If you are a content creator and would like to request corrections or removal of your information, please contact us at hello@usefollowed.com.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
