Interlock knit Lifestyle & luxury

Uses and recommends it · talked about in 2 episodes

"For our t-shirt, what I chose to use is what's called an interlock knit. An interlock knit is essentially a double-faced single jersey knit. It has the same loops on the front as it does on the back. The result of that is a fabric that is more structured, smoother, and more durable because you have twice the amount of knit structure for the same amount of area."

Lycra Gear & hardware

Uses and recommends it · 1 episode

"Because I designed this from the ground up to be a black t-shirt, we actually use black Lycra in the knit. The result of that is a fabric that when you stretch it, it doesn't have the typical glimmer that a spandex fabric would have. It stays nice, deep, and dark."

Supima cotton Lifestyle & luxury

Uses and recommends it · 1 episode

"That is why I chose to use Supima. Not only is it the gold standard, it's the only cotton in the world I can actually prove."

Flat Felled Seam Gear & hardware

Uses and recommends it · 1 episode

"Along the side where you traditionally find an overlock seam, we actually did a flat felled seam that's smooth on both sides. This is what you usually find in a high-end dress shirt."

Reactive dyes Lifestyle & luxury

Uses and recommends it · 1 episode

"An impossibly black dye that won't fade out after one wash because it's using reactive dyes. We've been able to achieve an L value which is darker than the darkest available Pantone."

Pima cotton Lifestyle & luxury

Recommends it · talked about in 2 episodes

"Here is actually going to be Pima cotton. So, Pima is basically like champagne for France. It is American Pima cotton."

What Shift warns against

Things Shift says to avoid or be careful with. Other experts don't always agree.

Egyptian Cotton

"Egyptian cotton is actually a thing, but it's not called Egyptian cotton. People have latched onto that marketing term and have just ran with it. That is why you can get Egyptian cotton bed sheets that are so scratchy."

On shirt

"this shirt that I got from On. It is only one wash and it faded so much from its original. Look at that bacon neck and also shrunk up a lot too"

Not impressed....
On shoes

"my shoe just broke from them. I am zero for three from the products I've purchased from On"
