Meta VR Glasses: What Vision Pro 2 COULD Have Been!
Marques Brownlee tries Meta's new VR glasses, a lightweight hybrid between glasses and a headset, and argues they show what a second-generation Apple Vision Pro could have been if Apple were still working on it.
The gist
-
Brownlee says Meta moved the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 3 chip, 12GB RAM and 128GB storage into a fan-cooled puck, keeping heat off your face.
-
The glasses weigh about 100 grams, using magnesium frames and manual lens spacing adjustment, which Brownlee says makes long sessions much easier.
-
Field of view is 70 by 66 degrees, below the roughly 110 of full headsets but better than XREAL's 55 to 60, he says.
-
Brownlee finds the extended desktop with virtual triple monitors most useful, and calls the keyboard and trackpad mapped onto a desk the coolest new feature.
-
The glasses are due next year for about $1,300, and Brownlee thinks this is what Apple could have built from Vision Pro feedback.
